About

JJ Shred is the heavy Rock and Metal project from Jeremy Joyce in New Orleans. Drawing from 80s - 00s metal, hardcore and punk JJ Shred delivers heavy riffs and heavy lyrics for dark times. A former gigging and touring musician, Joyce withdrew from that world to get back to his roots, RIFFS. He recruited Chris Schuller, Stephen Bohnstengel and Jamey Thomason in the pursuit of Aural Carnage. Chris shares Jeremy's punk and hardcore influences albeit from a West Coast perspective. Stephen is a professional bassist who grew up listening to Crowbar. Jamey, another Southerner (from GA) came up in a multitude of original music projects from surf rock to funk.

The combination of the songs and the eclectic musicians' styles creates a sound that sits somewhere in between multiple heavy music genres. Which is appropriate for a New Orleans band where genres are often defies and rules and rarely obeyed.

JJ Shred deliver their second single release, less than a year from their debut 7 Inch. "Devil's Right Hand" is anti-genocide, anti-war, anti-fascism and anti-capitalism. It delivers the message with a heavy ass riff. Joyce believes that the times dictates the message and that these are dark days indeed. Maybe heavy music can be a harbinger of change.
